Update: I posted this page days after I started at Hilltop (May 18th 2013 to be exact - see version history above!). While my ideas are still valid, it is great to see what these ideas have turned into.
Market to Hilltops infrastructure, reinforcing Hilltops mission, vision and core values. Conduct research marketing of this infrastructure, and at the same time, leverage the strengths and talents of Hilltops existing relationship base, (i.e. employees, clients, and vendors) through collaborative efforts. Create a personal or anonymous space for individuals, teams, and organizations to offer ideas and give feedback. Examples might be; personal or success stories, problem/solution, new ideas, tips/tricks, anything. Create a village square for people to congregate. A virtual "water cooler" inside the companies intranet.
This information could prove valuable to the company moving forward, and help the company to understand its internal perception. Internal perception strengths should be marketed externally, creating demand for Hilltop jobs (the "Hot" company). There should be a waiting list for jobs just as there is a waiting list for beds.
Here is a video of a 15 year old young adult who, in spite of being repeatedly rejected (even mocked and scoffed at) persisted and proceeded to accomplish something that was thought to be impossible. His short <10 minute talk is profound in its own right, but also hammers home the point I'm trying to make. Simple solutions to complex problems are literally right under our nose.
This young mans parents were told he would never speak, never tie his own shoes...
